Hellooooo! Another week (almost) bites the dust. August is absolutely flying by. I am pretty excited about that though because it means that this time next week we’ll be off on our east coast vacation time. Hoorays!
On Tuesday night we celebrated Chris’ birthday. Since we’d had our birthday day on Saturday, we kept things pretty simple with a taco station and some carrot cake.
Annndddd nope that cake is definitely not home made. There’s something so amazing about ultra sugary ultra delicious Safeway cakes.
Delightful!
And a special birthday banner for the birthday boy man.
I LOVE birthdays!

Breakfast…
I took a brief hiatus from my usual porridge breakfasts and I’m very happy to say that they have made a return into my everyday routine. Oh so much deliciousness.
Strawberries might even be tastier than bananas. But I’m not ready to make such a big call just yet.
Workout…
After letting breakfast settle for a little while, I headed out for a quick run.
4 ‘easy’ miles that felt deathly hard.
I followed up with 8 minute abs and some plank action with my workout buddy.
She was all smiles one minute..
While I was running home, I passed by a house with a couple of kids sitting out on the curb. They were riding skateboards, playing hopscotch and eating lunch — sandwiches and chocolate milk. As I ran by I was overcome with nostalgia for being a kid. The long summer days with friends, the simple pleasures of being outside, even the simplicity of enjoying a nice big glass of chocolate milk. It was all so simple then. So pure. Sometimes I long for those days.
Then I started to think about how really great it is to be where I am right now. 26 is a pretty awesome age and while there is obviously so much more responsibility and worry, it is so fun to be in this stage of my life. Married to an awesome person, with so much excitement coming up in our lives. So while I do long for those childlike wonderment times, I wouldn’t trade this stage off life for anything. The wonder, the carefree attitude and the excitement is what I want to capture from those days. And keep.
When it was time for lunch post-run and deep thoughts, this was inevitable.
Note the chocolate milk, enjoyed outside in the fresh air. Glorious.

Know whats also awesome about being an adult?
This.
Happy Thursday friends!
